As of a few days ago, this pregnancy is officially longer than the last one. Finally! I feel like I've been pregnant for eight months already. Oh well. Now that I've reached this point, I am starting to feel like I can get back into the pregnancy, and start reading pregnancy books again, and all that sort of thing. :) I've been kind of coasting on my eating habits, too - I have a general feel that I'm eating well, but haven't been writing anything down to check or adding up protein, etc. I'll start doing that tomorrow. I've had to struggle with my water intake, as usual, but I'm doing well now. And I've started exercising again. I'm still horribly out of shape. I haven't run at all since the last Eclipse event. I'm afraid Quinn is going to be rather slow next game... :P But I'm back up to 17 minutes a day on the Wii Fit (adding a minute each day) and it isn't making me super tired the way it was when I first started back up. SAM is a smarty-pants sometimes... Yesterday we were coming home rather late, and he reminded me to turn on my headlights. I had forgotten, so I turned them on and said, "Good, now the other cars can see us." He said, "Not the cars, really, but the drivers!" Heh. Literalist. The reason we were out so late is that SAM is starting Awanas on Wednesday nights. He's been lonely, and they needed another teacher, so it seemed like it would work. It's very odd having somewhere we have to be in the evening, but so far it's worked out. And only one kid has had the swine flu so far... :P Today I made toast with Canadian bacon, creamed greens, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, and swiss cheese all in a stack. It was very tasty, even if it did take me until lunch to get it cooked. :) I still need to finish cleaning the kitchen. On Saturday we're having an Animal Encounter at the zoo - SAM and I are going to go in the cage with the giant tortoises. Should be pretty neat. :)

We're back from Chicago. Hoshiadam's sister is now Doctor Jenna, yay. The trip was fun. We made it in a day both times, 12 hours with stops. On the way we were in a traffic jam for an hour... SAM did really well though. We only had to stop on the side of the road for an emergency potty break once. I left a casserole in the oven all weekend. It is sad, I was looking forward to seeing if it was any good. But Wednesday night when I was cooking it was when the big storm came through, and the power loss turned off the timer, so I completely forgot about it. Luckily, the power loss also turned off the oven heat... otherwise we might not have had a house when we got back. :P I didn't even remember it until we reached Knoxville. It was stinky. Now I have huge piles of junk to clean. I was supposed to get my oil changed, but can't find my car keys - of course, because I kept seeing them somewhere all evening and morning. Whenever that happens they're sure to have disappeared by the time I want them. :) Ugh. And I'm so horrifically tired... |

Gave blood on Friday. I had iron! It's always better when I'm exercising regularly. I was also not completely exhausted the next day, like I was the last time - another exercise benefit! I can run four and a half miles in twenty minutes on the Wii Fit, but I think I would be saddened by reality if I tried actually running that far. SAM and I walked 1.1 miles in about forty-five minutes yesterday, and it took me twenty-four minutes to carry him back again, with one stop for rearrangement. :) I'm still enjoying the CSA. Getting a bunch of random veggies each week encourages me to try recipes I probably wouldn't otherwise bother with. Yesterday I made Mexican minestrone to use up the bunch of cilantro, and SAM actually ate it. But what do I do with a big bunch of mint? ( Social persona test ) I have the cold. I thought I had it already , but it made its presence known without doubt this morning. :P I hope it will go away by the four-day.

Made fried okra last night. It was an interesting experiment, I don't think I've fried anything like that before. And SAM discovered that okra is actually edible raw. :) I didn't think it would be very good, with all that hair, but it was actually rather sweet and quite edible, if a bit slimy. Once cooked, it turned out very well - SAM had three bowls and then it was gone. :) I moved the kittens to a box last night also. Mama Kitty wasn't very happy about having her haven pulled apart so I could scrub the carpet, but it was pretty messy back there. I put new paper down and put everything back together again, but she has left the kittens in the new box, so I guess it didn't end up being too objectionable. Urgh, not feeling well today. Very cold-ish and tired. :( Hopefully it will go away before the event.

We went out and spent huge amounts of money on Saturday morning, getting stuff for the house. Then we went out in the afternoon and got more stuff! :) New rugs, pavers, insulation for the water heater, towel and toilet paper holders for the downstairs bathroom, dirt... the list goes on and on. :) I was weak and got some things I didn't technically need, but it's deny myself stuff that only costs a few dollars when we're buying much bigger stuff. Oh well, I have bird houses. :) We did manage to resist the call of a really beautiful-sounding set of wind chimes for $300. Sunday afternoon we built a new garden bed next to the brick wall by our patio out back. It's a very sunny spot. It was hard work - hoshiadam was super awesome and did a bunch of it on his own while I was taking care of SAM. It's very aesthetic now. I like it. :) And if my coir (coconut fibers, to use instead of irresponsibly-harvested peat moss) comes in soon I'll be able to get my soil made. (Yes, I'm making soil. No, it's not "just dirt". My yard is made of clay.) I have vermiculite and compost already... waiting is hard! I'm excited, I had to try hard to stop myself from buying strawberry plants already. :) On Friday I decided it was warm enough, I'm going to give potty training SAM a try. He's 26 months old... that's late for people a generation or two ago, early for this generation. *shrug* He's been halfway there since he was 15 months old and we switched to cloth diapers, I've just been too lazy to work at it much. At any rate, he's been naked most of the time since then. :) We're trying the naked method - he wears no diapers, I bring the potty with us wherever we go, and I remind him several times an hour that the potty is there if he needs it. For accidents we just say, "Oops, now we have to clean up the mess, maybe you'll make it to the potty next time", and for successes he gets applause, which seems to make him happy. :) I can't really tell if there's been progress yet... and of course we were out of the house most of the day Saturday and half of Sunday. He did stay dry through our long afternoon outings Saturday, until the car ride home. Sunday morning he had three accidents (in the space of about an hour and a half), but I wasn't helping him since we were running around trying to get ready for church. Today he did well for most of the morning, but got distracted at lunchtime. We shall see how things go. I did well riding my bike this morning, giving a real effort instead of halfway trying like I was doing the last few times, because I was so tired. I'm still not back up to my previous average of 7 miles in 30 minutes, but getting closer. It is hard to get started each morning, but I feel good about doing it. I'm hungry all the time now! Tonight I will weigh in and see if I've made progress this week. I planted little onions last week, on my kitchen windowsill in milk cartons that I cut in half, since they don't seem to be recyclable. They are about six inches high now! Each day I turn them around, and by evening they are leaning on the window again. It's probably time to thin them out... I guess I should think about ways to cook them. I'm on dangerous ground, starting a garden and growing lots of plants when I don't actually cook... I want to though, so hopefully this will be a good excuse. That reminds me, I have a napa cabbage in my fridge that I need to do something with. Oh, and I win! I have remembered the lasagna! (It's a frozen one, I keep going to cook it for dinner and then realizing it has to cook for TWO HOURS. Today is the day!) Oh, and Seth slept through the night last night! Zzah! |
