Yay · Me!

Right after the Eclipse four-day this weekend, I'm heading out with my mom and SAM to Texas for relative-visiting and beach. For two weeks. :) I'll be back on the 20th or so. So I really should be packing right now.

( Hmm, I talk a lot. A cut is in order. )

In other SAM news, he has learned to play with hoshiadam's minis. He's been making them fight and talk to each other, in authentic "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" fashion. :)

When we woke up this morning, we noticed that although the thermostat is set to warm up in the morning, it was instead getting colder in the house. No heater! We got a lot of use out of the fireplaces today, and this afternoon the heater person showed up and fixed it. Just a fuse. Yay. He says another thing is getting ready to break by spring, but we're still under our homeowner's warrantee (and renewed it), so that's probably okay. Maybe they can replace it with something more efficient. Our heating bill last month was absurd, and we can't set the thermostat any lower. :P It's already at 67 in the day and 64 at night.

Hoshiadam lost his glasses at the villa, and we spent most of last evening looking for his spare pair with no luck, so we were happy this morning when the rental people said they'd found them, and are mailing them to us. Yay! And just to fill my morning with phone calls, I got an appointment to have both cats fixed in the morning. Poor kitties. :( But Mama Kitty has been in heat for days now, and I'm afraid Oopb will eventually figure out that he can do something about that. Inbreeding bad!

Oh, and as for weight issues, I lost the last Christmas pound and got back to my low point. I've probably gained it back with the vacation eating, but we'll see what the official weigh-in says at the end of the week.

We got back last Wednesday. With hoshiadam staying in Houston to work, we dawdled back and did some more visiting than we'd planned. It was pretty nice, and it spaced out the six days of driving.

A really nice thing - on all six of those long driving days, SAM stayed dry the WHOLE TIME! In fact, he only had two or three wet daytime diapers the whole trip. Yay! Of course, since we've been back he's been having more accidents, for some reason, but I'm hoping that will go away.

I only gained five pounds over Thanksgiving, yay! That's better than the 7-12 pounds I was expecting, especially with how I was stuffing myself with everything in sight. Now I just have to lose all that again, with a little extra for Christmas, and I'll be set. :) Since I've been home I've lost two of the pounds, so I'm on track.

While we were in Tomball, we went to the Texas Renaissance Festival. It was huge! We had a decent time. We watched a juggler, and got SAM a shirt, a cavalier hat with big fancy feathers (which he currently won't wear, because the first time he wore it his hair got stuck in the inside and got pulled out when we took it off :P), a dragon toy, and a flute (which got stepped on that afternoon and broken, great trauma ensued). Also, a turkey leg. He had a fun time, though he wanted to do, ride, and buy EVERYTHING, and stuff was expensive. He got to play a gong with some of the musicians, that was neat. :) They also had a fun little cage for the children, which we put SAM in. :) It was a maze with three levels, they had to climb their way up and down to get out again. It was almost too big for SAM, but he managed, and only needed one prompt to find his way out. We missed the jousting, though, I was sad. :(

So now we are here! There is much to do. The tree is up, and the nativities, the rest is still a work in progress. Cleaning must happen.

Oh, and my silly ankle is mostly better. I have full range of motion back, and it looks almost like the other ankle. It just is still sore when I stretch it.

We had a great time at the beach, a great time at the party, and now we're back home and I'm still trying to catch up. :) So I'll post more later.

I greatly feared the scale after the vacation, since I stuffed myself without reservation at every opportunity. Mmmm, seafood and homeade ice cream (not together)... And indeed, when I came back I had gained seven pounds. *sigh* But as of last night I had lost it all again, huzzah. :) I was hoping it wasn't real.

I have so many pictures to upload I don't even want to get started. :)

I am assuming no one wants to go give blood with me this weekend? All my giving-blood buddies have moved away, sigh...
